Remember this first
First, 3 things to remember
- 1There are three market segments on Nasdaq.
- 2The conditions for initial listing and for remaining listed are different.
- 3A notification of non-compliance does not immediately mean a final delisting.
These are segments within the same Nasdaq.
The Nasdaq Capital Market, Global Market, and Global Select Market are the three market tiers of the Nasdaq. There are differences in the criteria applied when listing a company.
You do not need to memorize all three names at first. It is important to note that these designations do not represent an order of higher future returns or a rating that guarantees a company will never fail.
There are conditions for entry and conditions for remaining.
Listing is the process of registering a stock to be traded by meeting the exchange's requirements. Even after being listed, there are ongoing conditions regarding price, share distribution, financials, and operations that must be maintained.
Do not assume that all requirements have been met based solely on the stock price. You must also check the grace period for improvement and any exceptions based on the company's situation and the latest rules.
Read from the notification stage.
A notice of non-compliance, a remediation plan, a notice of regaining compliance, and a delisting decision are all different. Just because the word "listing" appears in a disclosure title does not mean they are all the same event.
Moving to a different Nasdaq market does not solve all problems. Read both the company's filings and the exchange's guidance to understand what conditions led to a specific decision.
You should not make such assumptions
“Transferring to the Capital Market resolves all listing issues.”
Market transfers and regaining compliance are different issues. Read the decision received by the company and the remaining conditions.
Check what you have read.
